Roadmap

Diderot is at an early stage — a working demonstration with no institution, funding, or editorial staff behind it yet, and running costs presently covered out of pocket. The project is actively seeking institutional support. This page describes, candidly, how it is meant to grow.

Near-term: content and community

The most immediate challenge is reaching a critical mass of submissions and community around them.

The current site already serves two purposes. Submissions with an AI Tool Disclosure certificate can help other mathematicians use AI more effectively ― a form of learning by example. The site also gives a home to AI writeups that would not ordinarily go on arXiv.

Three simple things would help enormously:

A larger ask: crossposting existing arXiv submissions here.

Medium-term: structure and funding

If the project gains traction, the plan is to set up a non-profit to handle the overhead — legal, political, and administrative — involved in running a preprint server. The search for institutional support is already underway.
